ED SMI 432 is part of the doctoral college of the 2 major public establishments ENSAM and CNAM, which is responsible for setting up and organizing doctoral training dedicated to developing scientific skills that can be transferred to industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This doctoral program is open to students holding a Master&#8217;s degree in research or an equivalent diploma, who have demonstrated their aptitude for research. Holders of another diploma giving them the grade of master may apply for a doctorate, but must provide proof of a training program establishing their aptitude for research, and apply to the ED SMI for a recruitment notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doctoral studies last 3 years: three years of research culminating in a thesis defended before a jury of specialists, leading to the award of a doctorate. <strong>The bac+8 level attained is the equivalent of a PhD in the English-speaking world.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons list-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button button button--primary button--shadow-random\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/edsmi.hesam.eu\/\">learn more<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"admission\" class=\"wp-block-group section has-grey-background-color has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group wrapper__inner is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading title--2 is-style-title-cesi-underline\"><span>Admission<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading title--3\">Admission requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You must hold<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A research Master&#8217;s degree,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a diploma of equivalent level, having validated the candidate&#8217;s aptitude for research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Holders of another diploma giving them the grade of Master or a foreign diploma equivalent to the French diplomas required above may request a recruitment notice to be able to justify a training course establishing their aptitude for research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Pass the selection tests (motivation, test, interview at CESI and registration with ED SMI).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Information is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/edsmi.hesam.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ED SMI website<\/a> and on the CESI LINEACT website for open theses <a href=\"https:\/\/lineact.cesi.fr\/recrutement\/.\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also possible to co-supervise a thesis with an international institution, which will require a tripartite agreement between CESI, ED 432 SMI and the international university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading title--3\">Selection procedures<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Analysis of application and verification of prerequisites,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tests and interviews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading title--3\">How to register with ED 432 SMI&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more on <a href=\"https:\/\/edsmi.hesam.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ED SMI<\/a>&#8216;s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CESI offers assistance to future thesis directors and supervisors in applying to the ED SMI, which is the only body able to validate these applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading title--3\">Tuition fees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These are fully managed by <a href=\"https:\/\/edsmi.hesam.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ED 432 SMI<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading title--3\">Funding arrangements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Most doctoral students are CESI employees hired under a private-law doctoral contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Funding for these positions is provided through :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>International, national or regional research programs,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ANRT CIFRE contracts with companies or public institutions,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contracts signed with companies,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CESI research grants,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Framework programs and industrial chairs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Doctoral program<\/strong> at CESI as part of the SMI Doctoral School &#8211;
