Hybrid EEG-fNIRS brain-computer interface based on the non-linear features extraction and stacking ensemble learning
The Brain-computer interface (BCI) is used to enhance the human capabilities. The hybridBCI (hBCI) is a novel concept for subtly hybridizing multiple monitoring schemes to maximize the advantages of each while minimizing the drawbacks of individual methods. Recently, researchers have started focusing on the Electroencephalogram (EEG) and ‘‘Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy” (fNIRS) based hBCI. The main […]

Minimising total weighted completion time for semi-online single machine scheduling with known arrivals and bounded processing times
This paper addresses the semi-online scheduling problem of minimising the total weighted com pletion time on a single machine, where a combination of information on jobs release dates and processing times is considered. In this study, jobs can only arrive at known future times and a lower bound on jobs processing times is known in […]

An Explainable Artificial Intelligence Approach for Remaining Useful Life Prediction
: Prognosis and health management depend on sufficient prior knowledge of the degra dation process of critical components to predict the remaining useful life. This task is composed of two phases: learning and prediction. The first phase uses the available information to learn the system’s behavior. The second phase predicts future behavior based on the […]

Energy Consumption Forecasting in a University Office by Artificial Intelligence Techniques: An Analysis of the Exogenous Data Effect on the Modeling
The forecasting of building energy consumption remains a challenging task because of the intricate management of the relevant parameters that can influence the performance of models. Due to the powerful capability of artificial intelligence (AI) in forecasting problems, it is deemed to be highly effective in this domain. However, achieving accurate predictions requires the extraction […]

An Efficient Approach for the Detection and Prevention of Gray-Hole Attacks in VANETs
Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) deliver a wide range of commercial as well as safety applications and further motivate the advancements of Internet of Vehicles (IoV), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Vehicles to Everything (V2X) communication. However, due to their open, distributed, dynamic nature, and protocol design issues, VANETs are vulnerable to a variety of security […]

Optimized Nonlinear Integral Backstepping Controller for DC-DC Three-Level Boost Converters
Multi-level DC-DC converters have been widely used in automotive and other high-power applications. Thus, the control of these multi-level converters is an emerging thematic in power electronics to ensure their proper functioning. This paper provides a novel nonlinear control of a DC-DC three level boost converter (T-LBC) based on a backstepping (BS) technique with an […]

An overview of interphase’s formation and participation on water diffusion in epoxy/metal bonded assemblies
This overview aims at gathering the various existing works on interphases within epoxy/metal bonded assemblies. Indeed, this particular area plays an important role on the adhesion but also on the behavior in wet environment. Polymeric materi als being hydrophilic, water diffusion occurs when they are in a humid environment. The water molecules then have an […]

Accelerated Aging on the Compression Properties of a Green Polyurethane Foam: Experimental and Numerical Analysis
The aim of this work is to evaluate the changes in compression properties of a bio-based polyurethane foam after exposure to 90 °C for different periods of time, and to propose a method to extrapolate these results and use a numerical approach to predict the compression behaviour after degradation for untested conditions at different degradation […]

A multi-agent system simulation based approach for collision avoidance in integrated Job-Shop Scheduling Problem with transportation tasks
At the operational level of Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS), several research works have developed solutions not fully realizable considering the operational constraints, which can be difficult to model. One of the well-known problems in FMS is the Job-Shop Scheduling Problem (JSSP) with transportation tasks. Indeed, this problem is addressed by many researchers, but most of […]

Investigation Properties of Pervious and Water-Retaining Recycled Concrete to Mitigate Urban Heat Island Phenomena
The urban heat island (UHI) effect poses significant challenges to urban environmental quality and public health. Over the decades, research efforts have been made to develop various UHI mitigation strategies, including pavement materials, such as, water-retentive pavement, reflective pavement, and pervious concrete. This paper focuses on the improvement of the hygric and water retention properties […]

The role of institutional factors in the economic growth process: theoretical justification and empirical application to DCs
